These installation guides are sorted by database, technical stack (ABAP and Java), and operating system
platform. For the installation of SAP S/4HANA, choose the SAP HANA Database guide for your operating
system (UNIX, IBM, or Windows), the ABAP Stack and the SAP HANA Database.
 Note
Java components and databases other than SAP HANA are still installed using the 1.0 version of the
Software Provisioning Manager. Y ou find the guides for version 1.0 on the same page as those for version
2.0 (see note above), just choose Installation Option of Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 <latest SP>.

2 SAP S/4HANA System Landscape
Information
There are various ways of deploying SAP S/4HANA in your new or already existing system landscape. This
section describes some examples.
Example: SAP S/4HANA New Installation
A new installation of SAP S/4HANA needs to run on the SAP HANA database. It is recommended to use the
SAP Solution Manager, which can run on any database. This very simple landscape can be enhanced with the
SAP cloud solutions and SAP Business Suite products.
Simple SAP S/4HANA Deployment
Example: SAP S/4HANA in an SAP Business Suite Landscape
It is possible to integrate SAP S/4HANA into an existing SAP Business Suite landscape by replacing the SAP

1 About This Guide
This guide describes the procedures for adapting SAP Best Practices solutions for SAP S/4HANA to the
company's needs. It contains information about providing the system, implementation tools, and the solution
content.
 Note
This guide is frequently updated as per customer/partner feedback. If you use the PDF version, we
recommend you come back and download the PDF version when you actually need it in your
implementation to get the latest information.
Strategies for implementing SAP solutions
For a new implementation of SAP S/4HANA, you can decide whether or not to use SAP Best Practices
implementation content (pre-configured solution packages). The 2 strategies are described below.

● The SAP Best Practices content configures a client with
automatic content activation. It contains only essential
configuration settings for the selected scope. It is re­
quired if you want to use the integrated model company
from SAP with running integrated processes provided
by the SAP Best Practices content.
● After the activation of the SAP Best Practices solution,
you can either extend or create your own configuration
in the implementation guide (transaction SPRO). The
automatic content upgrade to the next release is not
possible via Solution Builder.
The SAP Best Practices content is
already included in your system.
Check SAP Note 2914416

is available for download, import
the local solution and installation
data files to the SAP Best Practices
Solution Builder and then activate
the content.
