SAP Material Ledger

SAP Material Ledger (ML) — multi-currency and multi-valuation inventory costing in S/4HANA: actual costing, moving-average vs standard price, the costing run, and the parallel valuations a multinational needs (IFRS vs local GAAP, group vs legal vs profit-center views).

The accounting standard this implements is documented separately under Finance — see Inventory — ASC 330 vs IAS 2. Note one tie worth calling out: IFRS requires write-down reversals that US GAAP forbids, so the parallel valuations diverge. Read the two together to assess whether an ML configuration correctly applies the inventory standard.
